Diamond dreams of exploring spring

Here is my entry in the Simply Siamese Spring Contest:

(With appologies to Pet Clark)

Winter was cold, but the snow is all gone now
And it is time to go

Maybe you know a clever place you can hide
Where you'll never show,

Listen to the birdies singing songs up in the trees now,
Chase the squirrels, check out the blooms
and explore all of the scenery. It's time to escape...
You can forget all the humans; forget their affairs, and go
Outside -- Flowers are blooming there
Outside -- The skies are much bluer there
Outside -- Springtime is waiting for you

Chase the bugs, attack the grass and roll round in clover
You'll be basking in the sun before day is over
Happy again...

The grass is much greener there,
You can forget all the humans; forget their affairs, and go
Outside -- Flowers are blooming there
Outside -- The skies are much bluer there
Outside -- Springtime is waiting for you

Floofyhead Friday: Mini-Me

Floofy Head Friday Header

It's nice to see Mike out and about again after his and Gretchen's MomBean's long illness. Hopefully this is good for his MomBean's heart too, to see Mike enjoying himself in the Cat Realm.

While I don't have anyone as adventurous as Mike the Mysterious here, I do have a black floofyhead. His name is Echo and he is my Mini-me:

Here we are decked out for St. Patrick's Day. I think Bean still needs to get the green boa feathers she saw before to put down on the table for my St. Patrick's Day shots, and she also needs to fix and hang my Black Cat Pub sign.

Echo has actually lived with my Bean long than I have. He was Mini-me of Phantom, who came before me. If you will look close in this picture, you will also she that Echo as a mini-me, that I have named Canyon. My next task, should I choose to accept it, is to find a mini-me for Canyon, but this may prove pretty hard, since Canyon is just under 2 1/2 inches tall.

As you can see, not only does my Bean like House Panthers, she like Mini-mes of House Panthers as well.

I would also like to find a Meezer Mini-me, so I can pretend it's my handsome Zed Monster and cuddle with it when he is not around. Purrhaps I can get Bean to order me one online.

We also have a couple of Squillion mini-mes in the house, although these are mini-mes of Eclipse, the one who came before the one who came before. Bean was owned by Eclipse when she got out of High School and still lived back in O Hi O before coming to the Sunshine State.

Bean was also trying to get a picture of me wearing the "Mother's Milk" flashy, but while I was more than happy to co-operating with taking pictures, I refused to stand "just so" with the flashy banging around into my chest. Besides must make it difficult for the human, can't let her think she's got me trained or something.

One hopes she is going to take the time tonight to put together my new header for the opening of the Black Cat Pub tomorrow. I know she's been stressed out by Day Hunting and especially by a pair of harpies she's been wanting to kill, but that's really no excuse to ignore my graphics it?

T13 - More Toys

Thursday 13

Cat Sitter DVD Beowulf was released on DVD Tuesday so of course, human come home with directors cut last night. It use motion capture animation, So you get those weird looking sort of humans like in Polar Express, but there is really cool dragon in it. I just want to know if she is going to rush home next week with 101 Dalmatians for me, or if she make me wait until she can get it on previewed rack like she did with Jungle Book. She did buy me Cat Sitter DVD - I do not know if this is the same as the visual catnip DVD that 40 Paws get, but it kind of interesting.

Anyway, I have already showed you my mousies and my little balls, which is what I usually play with, but today I want to share with you 13 other toys I play with.

1, 2 and 3:

Cat toy

My peacock feather (top), feather sparkle wand, and birdy wand. I really like to put the bitey on the birdy wand.

4, 5 and 6:

Cat toy

Rainbow ribbon (top), sparkle wand, and cat lure. Rainbow ribbon is a really fun toy. The sparkle wand Bean uses a lot when we take pictures to get me to look at camera, or go where she want me to go. Cat lure is hand tied feather lure with is fun to chase.

Cat toy

Giant Krinkle ball that I get last year for Eastern.

8 and 9:

Cat toy

Jungle Cat, which has a bell on it, and Morris Bag, which has cat nip in it.

Cat toy

Radio Rascal, radio controlled mouse. I think Bean has more fun with this one than I do.

11 and 12:

Cat toy

Twitter bird and red dot laser pointer toy.

I'm not really a big fan of either, the bird chirps and kind of freaks me out sometimes and I can't seem to catch that annoying red dot.

Cat toy

Catfish tent/toy/sleeping bag from Petlane. My Catfish is a lot of fun!

As you can see, I am very fortunate feline to have all of these toys. Some cats not have any toys at all, let alone high tech ones like radio controlled mouse.

I have lots of other toys as well, the spiders you have seen, little bow tie toys to bat around and a kitten mitten to interact with my human. Purrhaps I will show you more on another T-13, but I think this is enough for one day.

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun!

White Cat Wednesday

(Dip dip dip dip dip dip dip dip)

I'm all white
Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?

I was kind of at a loss. How do I join Gorgeous Gingers or Kick-A Torti clubs? But then last night, that all change.

Bean fire up Photoshop and make me all white. So, now, if she can do that, how hard can it be to make me ginger or torti?

And besides, Secret Agent Cat needs as many disguises as she can get!

So what you think? Am I as elegant as Luxor?

Tattle Tail Tuxie Tuesday

I like to tease human sometimes, so she go to spring training and I decide to tease her about first boyfriend of spring.

Minnesota Twins,Spring Training

Kevin? I meow.

"Oh honey, Slow is my friend," she reply. Yeah, that what I say. She call him a boy and is a friend. Therefore Boy-friend, right?

"Not like that," she blush. Hah!

Minnesota Twins,Spring Training

"Dirty?" I suggest.

"No. He's like my son. With a accent."

"Yeah and he nearly old enough to be your son too," I point out with a purr. And accent my left paw. She can speak Perth as well as a native!

Minnesota Twins,Spring Training

"Justin?" I muse with a flick of my tail.

"No, definately NOT Justin."

"Why? You have 'I <3 33' T-shirt."

"Yeah, but I bought that for Jon."

"But you tell Jon you buy it for Justin"

"What they don't know won't hurt them."

I think about this.

Minnesota Twins,Spring Training

"Gardy? He more your age?"

"Well," she say "That's true. But I think I like his son better."

"Yes," I agree. "Toby cool."

She sweet on Kevin, I don't care what she say. I know she is.

(More spring training photos are available on my Bean's Rookie Whites blog.)

Artsy Catsy Charm

I am modeling the gold Laurel Burch cat charm necklace I win in the Artsy Catsy Auction to help raise money for Churchill. Since this is also my first Tuesday since I worm my way in join Tuxedo Gang Hideout, I am trying to look very Tuxie in this picture and show off my white furs.

Artsy Catsy Charm

This is a better Tuxie picture, but I have my head turned wrong way as I try to avoid the flash. I was not being very co-operative model.

Artsy Catsy Charm

This is best picture of all, but you can not see the Tuxieness, since I hide the big white spot on my tummy.

Myth Monday - Honeysuckle Toys

Honeysuckles are arching shrubs or twining vines in the family Caprifoliaceae, native to the Northern Hemisphere. There are about 180 species of honeysuckle, with by far the greatest diversity in China, where over 100 species occur; by comparison, Europe and North America have only about 20 native species each.

The leaves are opposite, simple oval, and from 1–10 cm long; most are deciduous but some are evergreen. Many of the species have sweetly-scented, bell-shaped flowers that produce a sweet, edible nectar. The fruit is a red, blue or black berry containing several seeds; in most species the berries are mildly poisonous, but a few (notably Lonicera caerulea) have edible berries.

Much like Catnip, the scent of honeysuckle wood is mildly intoxicating to Felines. Kitty Kottage, in Edmonton, is one of the makers of a like of honeysuckle toys and sprays that you might enjoy.

Only the berries of the kind of honeysuckle used in the toys are reported as being mildly toxic to humans. The shrubs are harvested in the spring or the fall when there are no leaves or berries present. Only the wood of the shrub is used in the toys. Harvesting the honeysuckle at these times makes it easier to keep the honeysuckle wood free of leaves and berries.

Honeysuckle Toys

Honeysuckle toys made from the wood of the plant are 100% safe for virtually all cats. There has been one report of a mild allergic reaction in one cat to the plant, but this seems to be in singular incident in much the same way my human is allergic to certain forms of pollen.

I do not know if Cats which do not respond to Catnip will respond to Honeysuckle. This may be an interesting test if any one of you out in Blogosphere cannot use catnip, to try honeysuckle and see if enjoy it.

I get my honeysuckle - as well as my one pound bag of catnip which you see in Saturday's post - from I get the Honeysuckle gift set which includes the spray, pom-poms, knots, bowties and spiders. I generally like the spider to play with better than the other toys.

Playing with my Honeysuckle Toys

I do not like even the quiet sound the spray makes, so Bean will usually go into the other room to spray the toys before bring them into me to play with.

Playing with my Honeysuckle Toys

I do many of the same things when I am playing with honeysuckle that I do with catnip. This includes rolling around, cuddling the items splayed with the honeysuckle and trying to lick the spray off. I may become very aggressive during my play session.

Also like catnip, I will go into a catatonic state after I have played for about 10 minutes. I just tire myself out and need to rest for a while.

As I say, this is a nice alternative to catnip if you want to try something different. Not too many cats know about these products as they are not as widely distributed as catnip, but it is certainly worth checking into.

Blurry Head Syndrome

I have this terrible malady that I have not told anyone of before. Frankly I was too embarrassed to admit that I had it, and was very concerned that it might end my budding modeling career. So I keep it to myself.

I am afraid that I have had this for years as well, but have only recently noticed it, when Bean start taking picture of me. Being an only cat, no one of course tell me about it and Bean I'm sure it too polite too mention it, even though I'm sure she's seen it happen.

But the other day, I was reading Pablog, and notice that he have it too. So then I start looking at blogs of other cats and I discover that purrhaps, I'm not alone.

In fact I now believe that hundreds, perhaps thousands of cats all around the globe suffer from these episodes.

It is called Blurry Head Syndrome (BHS) and it happens when your head blurs, much like this:

Often, I have noticed a clicky sound right before my head blurs and sometimes it includes a flashy light as well. It does not happen all of the time and is not otherwise painful.

Usually when I find a picture where my head as blurred, I delete it because I don't want other cats to see and take pity on me. But now I think that with proper research and experimentation, we can end BHS.

Wouldn't it be great for future generations of kittens to live in a world where their heads never blurred?

So now I am asking all Blogosphere cats and share their episodes of BHS with me, and to tell me of any symptoms that may occur right before you have an attack. Also let me know if the bluriness hurts you in any way, as perhaps other cats episodes are different than mine.

I take this research very seriously, so please help me in collecting this data so that future generations will be clear headed all of the time.

Inspiring Blog Award Mickey has given me an Inspiring Blog award. I notice this award is from 2007 which will now confuse the human again, as I have just got her to write 2008 on everything. But that is okay. It is a great honor to win this award. Mickey's blog always inspires me with his great photography.

I would like to give this award to Daily tales of Chase, Missy, KC, and Bear, and Yao-Lin's Yawnings for their inspiring stories, and Zoolary and Purrchance to Dream to for their inspiring graphics.

Catnip AND Treats

I thought the idea of Catnip OR Treats for Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos kind of silly. After all, what's wrong with both?

I mean, treats are important.

Bean when shopping yesterday and discovered, if you can believe it, a four pack box of Temptations. I have to give a big paws up to the packaging department at Whiskers for coming up with something so....innovative. The box contains two of my favorite flavors, salmon and chicken.

But much as I applaud them, I also wanted to say it's long overdue. Temptations should have been packaged this way from the start. In fact, a big variety box with one or two pouches of each flavor would actually be better.

We - or I think most of us - get treats for modeling, so treats, obviously are very important to a cat. BUT...

That's a big bag of catnip you have there

Catnip is LIFE. Catnip is what make life worth living. What was that line from Braveheart? All Cats die. Not every cat really lives.

The better to nip me with

With Catnip, I am living!

(Yes, I am niphead. To that end, I join Catnip Anonymous yesterday. I look forward to telling all of my furriends about the finest nip toys in all of the world! Because if they are out there, I WILL find them!)

On a side note, Zippy, Sadie and Speedy said they didn't know I had any white. Well, aside from the white spot on my chest I was named for, I have this big white patch on my underside.

The big white spot

So when I sit in a certain way, I can look very tuxie indeed.

sleeping on back

I also have little bit of white in between my legs where my fixit scar is. The furs grow back in white.

Otherwise I pretty much a House Panther.

But, the Hottie Mom interceded with the Cat that run Tuxie Gang and I have now been admitted as a member. They say maybe the mail get lost or go to spam box. I do not know. But I now member of Tuxie Gang too.

I will have to sit just right when I send them pictures so that I look very Tuxie in them.

I also join Daisy's Pink Ladies Kitty Group and go on my first mission yesterday. (It is covert operations group.)

So as you can see, I have been very busy. I also get award from Mickey, but I will tackle that in my post about BHS, which I must work on today. Research continues...

Mail Call

I've got Mail! It is from my Scottish Fold friend Misty Whispurrs in Michigan. She oversees the running of The Quilted Squirrel. Can you guess what I got?

It's a beautiful Kitty Quilt! I'm afraid because we were using the flash, the colors on the quilt do not look right. Bean says we will take it outside tomorrow when she comes home from dayhunting and take a picture in the sunlight so you can see the colors better.

I think the colors match my furs beautifully!

It's a very comfy quilt too! I will enjoy sleeping on this!

Or playing!

Oops! I was rolling around on my quilt so much I fell off the bed! (I meant to do that!)

You can find more pictures with my quilt here.

This is TC Bear.

TC Bear

This also is TC Bear.

TC Bear has been in town since mid-January to help with the Minnesota Twins free youth training clinics and now with spring training. He is the mascot for the Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball Team.

My TC Bear is very huggily. Bean say, "What would you do if TC Bear attack you?" and suddenly TC Bear jump on my back! He has never done this before! Purrrhaps he wanted to steal my Kitty Quilt! The answer is I bunny kick him across the floor!

When he is being better behaved, TC Bear hangs out with the Baseball Dude, Jeter Bear and the Coca Cola Bear.
