If you are in Lee or Collier County, then you will want to go to the 8th Annual Fall Pet Fest hosted by the Lee County Animal Care Trust on November 1, 2008 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The event, held at Animal Services’ shelter, 5600 Banner Dr., Fort Myers, will benefit the Trust Fund and its efforts to support the community’s homeless pets!

Highlights include:

* Pets for Adoption
* Pet Contests with prizes, including Best Costume, Dancing with the Dogs and more
* Dog Fashion Show
* Flyball, Agility & Dog Training Demos
* Vendor Marketplace including pet products, pet photographers, food & more
* Games & Music
* Touched By The Stars special sale of select Hollywood, Sports and Rock & Roll memorabilia
* Raffle
* $10 Coupons for Microchip Pet IDs

The goal of the event is to increase awareness about the vast number of orphaned pets in Lee County and all of Southwest Florida . The Fest will offer a variety of educational opportunities such as pet care and dog training demonstrations as well as lots of fun for pet owners and their pets. This is the largest yearly gathering of shelters and rescues from the tri-county area with hundreds of pets available for adoption.

In 2007 over 30,000 pets ended up in local shelters in Southwest Florida . Due to pet overpopulation many were unable to be placed in new homes. Lee County Animal Services and the Animal Care Trust would like to see every available home filled by a shelter animal.

For more information about the Fall Pet Fest, the Animal Care Trust Fund, this year’s sponsors, or pets for adoption, call Lee County Animal Services at (239) 533-7387 (LEE-PETS) or visit www.LeeLostPets.com.

Finally I just wonder if any of the rest of you get anything like this in your mail box:

Dear Diamond Emerald-Eyes, (That is me!)

Congratulations on your blog! The DogTime.com team has been reading through hundreds of pet-related blogs and we've selected your blog to be a DogTime Blog Star. We invite you to join the DogTime Blog Network based on the following criteria:

Enthusiasm and love of for pets
Relevant and thorough pet content

Who is DogTime? DogTime Media is the largest online community of animal lovers with nearly 8.2 million unique visitors per month and over 150 member sites across the pet category. Please visit DogTime.com to learn more about our mission.

As a DogTime Blog Star more pet enthusiasts will see and read your blog and provide you with the opportunity to share your love of animals.

It just strike me as a little odd, as I have mostly cat related content, although I do some things on Woofie from time to time. I wonder if they really been reading it, or if it just a standard form letter they send lots of pets to get them to visit their site. What you think?
