Some humans are very sick, you know this? I get this in the mail from the American Humane Society and it make me so mad!:
After a German shepherd's back foot was run over by an all-terrain vehicle and put in a cast to heal, the dog's owner made an unthinkable decision. He removed the cast to stop the dog from chewing at it and tightly wrapped the entire leg in layer upon layer of duct tape.
Sadly, Nakota's suffering was just beginning.
Next, he was kept tied to a tree for four weeks, callously ignored while his pain escalated with each passing day.
The duct tape cut off circulation to Nakota's wound, which became infected, and the poor dog refused to eat, dropping 15 pounds during his four-week ordeal. He was in danger of losing his foot when the owner's wife finally noticed "a funny smell" and took him to the vet.
The good news was Nakota's owners agreed to relinquish him -- which is why animal cruelty charges were not filed against them. He would never go back to the home where he had been so severely neglected.
The bad news was that under the duct tape, Nakota's leg had been devastated by gangrene.
The traumatized leg was open to the bone from the middle of Nakota's hip down. All of the toes on that leg had to be amputated, and he also lost three of the pads on his foot. His temperature was sky-high -- as were the medical bills for his treatment.
After three surgeries, Nakota is back on his feet. Amazingly, his terrible past did not change his sweet personality, and now he is awaiting adoption into a new, loving home.
I do not care these people relinquish him...they should still have animal cruelty charges brought against them. Maybe have their toes and paw pads cut off too! How cruel can you be to such a nice, sweet woofie!
Ohh....I am so mad at these stupid peoples! I am going to go hiss at my brofur now, just because I can!
